The Weeknd Abel Makkonen Tesfaye veya tanınan sahne adıyla The Weeknd 16 Şubat, 1990 yılında dünyaya geldi. 2010 un sonlarına doğru Tesfaye, YouTube a The Weeknd ismiyle birkaç şarkı yükledi ve bu sayede kendini tanıtmaya başladı.

Sanatçı, kayıt almaya ilk olarak Get In There isimli şarkısı ile başladı. 3 şarkı yaptı, bunlar What You Need, Loft Music, ve The Morning ve Abel in söylediği fakat Rose un umursamadığı diğer parçalar.

Sanatçı My Dear Melancholy çalışmasını 2018 yılında ve After Hours isimli çalışmasını da 2020 yılında müzikseverlerle buluşturdu.
